Mission
My goal is to offer prudent financial management of all state monies through efficient
safekeeping practices and to maximize interest income to the state with sound and wise investments.
Never has good financial management of the state's resources been more important.
It has a direct bearing on our credit rating. Hard earned taxpayer dollars deserve
careful and thoughtful consideration. Making these dollars stretch will result in the successful
operation of state government.

State government operates similar to most corporations with two separate
divisions: Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. The State Controller handles the Accounts Payable portion
while the State Treasury controls the Accounts Receivable function. All monies received by any state agency flow
through the State Treasurer's Office. These funds are accounted for, credited to the proper state agency and then
placed in the bank to cover the warrants (checks) issued by the State Controller. If the money is not needed
immediately to pay the state's bills it is then invested by the State Treasurer. Every dime earned in interest
income is money that does not come out of the taxpayers pocket . . . and that is important!

"Good financial Management is important for all Idaho families"
